Blogtheworldcup is a project set up by Creative Blogs, a Wordpress based blogging platform for schools. The idea is simple: there are 32 nations in the FIFA World Cup and there will be 32 blogs on this site, one for each competing nation. Each blog will be managed by a class (or school) and a live online draw will take place to allocate classes/schools to the different country blogs.
What your class puts on your blog is entirely up to you. You might consider squad profiles, maps, match reports, man of the match votes and other football related stuff. Equally, you might also like to include research about the culture of your nation, tourism, history, local celebrities, music and so on.
As well as managing a country blog, pupils will be able to collaborate across the site through the use of the Buddypress social platform. There will be forums and votes, live blogs and more.
The project is entirely free and represents an ideal opportunity for you and your class to show off their blogging skills in a safe and collaborative environment.
Happy Blogging!
